RE: Ohio DECA Career Development Conference Judging
The 68th annual Ohio DECA Career Development Conference is scheduled for March 16 – 17, 2012, in Columbus. We need your help this year to serve as a judge and I hope you are able to assist us to help determine the state winners who will represent Ohio at the International DECA Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
There are a couple of ways in which you can judge events. On Friday, March 16th you can evaluate the written projects, which is a critical day for Written Events. The ideal situation is to judge the written portion on Friday and then interview/judge the student(s) who wrote the project on Saturday. However, if you are unable to return on Saturday, you can still judge on Friday. Likewise, if you can only judge on Saturday, we can use your help then to do the interviews/judging as well.
The details for the Written Events are:
Friday, March 16, 2012 – 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Read and evaluate written research projects
40 – 50 volunteers needed
Saturday, March 17, 2012 – 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Interview/judge student finalists
20 – 25 volunteers needed.
If you are unable to assist on Friday, you can still judge on Saturday, March 17th with our Series Events, Team Decision Making Events, Principles of Business Events, Marketing Representative Events or Professional Selling Events.
This entails interviewing students in different areas of sales and marketing in role plays/case studies that you will be provided the information and guidelines to judge the students with. The students will then provide their information from the role plays/case studies to you the “customer” in their presentation.

If you click on any event, it will open up a link that gives details of that particular contest to give you an idea of what that contest entails.
I am certain that you will find it to be a positive experience working with high school marketing students from across Ohio. All events take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Columbus where a continental breakfast will be provided and parking is provided in the Convention Center Garage and Ohio DECA will pay for your parking as a thank you for judging.
To confirm your availability to judge Written Events on Friday, March 16th and/or Saturday, March 17th OR judge Series Events, Team Decision Making Events, Principles of Business Events, Marketing Representative Events or Professional Selling Events on Saturday, March 17th, please click on the link at the bottom of this page called “Ohio Judges Information Sheet”, complete the form and e-mail it back to ohio.assist@ohiodeca.org. Please complete all the fields asked on this form to ensure that our records are accurate and up-to-date so we may contact you one week prior to the conference to give you further information about judging at the conference.

- Finally, please indicate if you are able to judge finals in the afternoon until 3:00 p.m. (lunch will be provided if you judge the finals in the afternoon; there is a limited number needed for finals)
