Membership Guidelines

  1. State and National membership dues are $14.00 per person ($6.00 State dues and $8.00 National dues). Membership dues are for all students and advisors joining DECA.
  2. Each chapter must submit a membership roster which must include teacher/advisor at the school.
  3. If your chapter is a new chapter desiring to join DECA, you must call the Ohio DECA Office at (614) 466-3891 for approval prior to proceeding with your on-line membership registration with National DECA. The Ohio DECA office must verify that you are an approved marketing education, business education or an approved Career-Technical Education program in Ohio prior to your chapter joining DECA.
  4. Rosters must be submitted on-line through DECA’s Membership Portal. Snail mail and faxes are not accepted.
  5. Membership rosters are due to National DECA by October 20th, via the on-line system.
  6. All chapters must have at least 10 student members or have 100% enrollment* of all students in chapter joining DECA.
  7. All chapter advisors must also pay membership fees.
  8. National DECA will accept purchase orders for membership.
  9. National DECA will accept Master Card and Visa credit cards, however, they do charge a 4% convenience fee in addition of your chapter’s membership amount to process your membership with a credit card.
  10. The completed roster can be used as an invoice for the purchase order or payment. Payment is to be sent to National DECA, 1908 Association Drive, Reston, VA  20191.
  11. Once a roster has been submitted to National DECA, the chapter is responsible for payment of the amount listed on the roster.
  12. National DECA will send membership cards, pins and materials directly to each chapter, as each chapter’s roster and payment are received.
  13. State and National membership dues are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  14. All conference participants must be a paid member. Final rosters are due at least two (2) weeks prior to their respective district competition. Non-members are not allowed to compete.

*Ohio DECA defines 100% membership as all students enrolled in their school’s DECA chapter who are taught by an individual teacher who is approved by the Ohio Department of Education, in Career-Technical Education and receives funding from the Office of Career-Technical Education, Ohio Department of Education. Those approved programs are for marketing education, business education or Career-Technical Education classes.
